This is a solenoid valve for a refrigeration system. It has a heavy brass body, two copper solder (ODF) connections, and a flow direction arrow cast on the body.

it is mainly use starts or stops the flow of refrigerant in the liquid line, suction line or hot-gas line. It is usually fitted before the expansion valve, so liquid refrigerant flows to the evaporator only while the compressor runs, also used for pump-down control and to isolate a cold room or evaporator when the room reaches temperature.
